For the past couple of months I’ve been trying to find the perfect travel handbag. The requirements that I have include it being a satchel or cross body, have a zipper and can fit a water bottle (I’ll need to stay hydrated while sight seeing).

The biggest problem is to find something that is affordable and durable, but also chic and goes with everything. I checked out some sites, including Coach, Marc Jacobs and Rebecca Minkoff, to find designer bags with potential – and under $500.

Coach – These four bags range from $247 to $325, with the Prairie Satchel coming in a variety of colors.

Dooney and Burke – These three are all different sizes, the Verona and Classic Satchel come in a variety of colors, and range from $149 to $419.

Rebecca Minkoff – I found a great variety of shapes and sizes on the Minkoff site. Prices range from $117 to $375. As you can tell, burgundy is a favorite color of mine.

Marc Jacobs – Boxy or round shaped, the two below come in five additional colors and range from $395 to $450.

Michael Kors – My top picks for Kors are sleek black purses, some with added detail. The prices range from $248 to $328.
