Christmas is a time for family, food and fun. It’s a time to sit together with your loved ones and relax after opening gifts or just dinner and then watch some cheesy holiday movie that we know we all enjoy. While I KNOW there are a billion Christmas movies out there ranging from “The Santa Claus” to “Elf” to “Charlie Brown” to “The Grinch”, I caught myself searching through Netflix and stumbling upon some great ABC Family holiday favorites of mine.
Starting with “Christmas Cupid” which I recently discovered and good thing because it had Chad Michael Murray in it. Christmas Cupid stars Christina Milian, Ashley Benson and CCM and is the story of Sloan (Milian), a PR pro trying to move up in the ladder until her client dies and haunts her during Christmas warning her to change her ways. Think “The Christmas Carol” only with Hollywood execs.
Then there’s “Holiday in Handcuffs” with Melissa Joan Hart and Mario Lopez. A lonely waitress kidnaps a cutie lawyer to pretend he is her boyfriend to bring home to her parents. Tired of always being a disappointment to her family she makes a not-so-well planned plan to make them proud. I must say this one is one of my all-time holiday favs.
“Snowglobe” is another splendid flic starring Christina Milian again as Angela, a young hopeful trying to find perfection in her imperfect world. As she discovers a whole new Christmas themed world in her snow globe, she realizes that there are flaws everywhere but life goes on and you must be grateful for all the love and beauty that is around you especially in holiday season.
Finally on my personal list there is “12 Dates of Christmas” with the talented Amy Smart and the dreamy Mark-Paul Gosselaar. This Christmas movie brings us another fantasy world with Kate played by Smart, who re-lives the same first date on Christmas Eve 12 times in hopes to win back her ex-boyfriend. Kate was supposed to be on a blind date with Miles (Gosselaar) but continually ends up ruining it being that she is still hung up on her ex. The story continues as with every re-do and we learn a lot more about Miles. This is a great rom-com Christmas film for the ladies.
All these should be available on Netflix to stream, as you sit down this Christmas know that you are blessed and loved. Enjoy the time you have with your family and be grateful. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and let me know if you decide to watch any of these tonight!
