The Maine – “Black Butterflies and Déjà Vu”
“Black Butterflies and Déjà Vu” is the second single from The Maine’s forthcoming studio album “Lovely Little Lonely,” due out on April 7.
“This song is for the moments, places, or persons that somehow turn your tongue to stone. Those times when words truly do not possess the power to adequately paint the subject,” John O’Callaghan stated in a release. “For me, this was written for an instance when the world was made clear to me for only an instant. When trouble faded into wonder, and I had absolutely no use for the 26 letters I know.”
Lorde – “Green Light”
Lorde returns with a euphoric new single, “Green Light,” her first single from her upcoming second LP “Melodrama.”
The song is “about those moments immediately after your life changes and all about the silly little things you think about,” Lorde told Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 radio show. “It sounds so heavy and the lyrics are so intense, and I thought, ‘How is this thing coming out so joyous-sounding?’ And I realized it was like, ‘This is that drunk girl at the party dancing around, crying about her ex-boyfriend, that everyone thinks is a mess. That’s tonight and tomorrow, she starts to rebuild.'”
Coldplay – “Hypnotised”
From Coldplay’s upcoming “Kaleidoscope” EP, due June 2, comes “Hypnotised,” a track that captures a sense of hope.
Ed Sheeran – “÷”
“Divide” is Sheeran’s third studio album, following “+” and “x.” The 16-song deluxe album is the perfect compilation of tunes to relax, keep calm and jam out to.
John Legend – “City Of Stars & Audition” Medley
Enjoyed John Legend’s “La La Land” performance at the 89 Academy Awards? Now you can listen to the medley of “City of Stars” and “Audition” in this fantastic mix.
Michelle Branch – “Best You Ever”
Michelle Branch dropped her second single, “Best Your Ever,” from her upcoming album “Hopeless Romantic.” The track was produced alongside Patrick Carney of the Black Keys and is a pure delight. Her third studio LP is her first since 2003’s “Hotel Paper” and is set to hit stores on April 7.
Dreamcar – “Kill for Candy”
No Doubt’s Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont and Adrian Young and their a new wave band with AFI frontman Davey Havok, Dreamcar, have finally unveiled their first single “Kill for Candy.” Their self-titled 12-song debut album will be released on May 12.
“There are a lot of things on the album that are Eighties-influenced,” Kanal told Rolling Stone, “but I feel like what we’ve created is something very fresh and new, too. You have to find that balance, and I think we’ve achieved that.”
New Discovery of the Week: LÉON – “For Your” EP
Swedish singer and songwriter Léon released her latest four-track EP “For You” on March 3 via Columbia. In 2015, she dropped her song “Tired of Talking,” which caught the attention Katy Perry and record industry veteran Chris Anokute. I’m not too familiar with her previous EP and single, but “Find You” will now be added to my everyday playlist.
As always, send me new song to listen to!
