The return of Lorde, The Maine’s second single from their upcoming album, and the first song from new supergroup Dreamcar are just a handful of tracks that form part of this week’s Music Monday.
Listen to tunes from Ed Sheeran’s new LP “÷,” rising singer and songwriter Léon, John Legend’s “La La Land” medley and so much more. Check it out below!
Chrysta Bell, longtime musical partner of filmmaker David Lynch, is set to release her sophomore album, “We Dissolve,” with award-winning producer John Parish on June 9.
Recorded in Bristol, UK, “We Dissolve” is a pop record with elements of soul, rock and jazz that features contributions from guest artists including Adrian Utley (Portishead), keyboardist Geoff Downes (Asia, Yes) and drone metal guitarist Stephen O’Malley of Sunn O)).

This weekend was even busier than last, with Oscars taking all of my attention. What a show, am I right?! Anyway, of the couple of new tunes that I had the chance to listen to were John Mayer’s second wave of tracks, Little Big Town’s new album and a new Zedd and Alessia Cara song.
Check out what was on my playlist this weekend below!
New week, new tunes. This Music Monday has a mix of pop, punk and compositions from Danny Elfman, as well as the return of artists like Lana Del Rey and Linkin Park.
Up first is Ryan Adams with his first LP of original material since his 2014 album “Ryan Adams.”
Ryan Adams – “Prisoner”
Praised by music critics, Ryan Adams’ 16th studio album is a delightful array of songs that lets you sit back and think about life – in a good way. Adams fans will rejoice in having 12 new tunes that they can listen to on repeat.
This past Friday, February 10, a slew of great music (in my opinion) was released! First pick has to be Katy Perry’s “Chained to the Rhythm,” which has been on repeat NON-STOP! She performed the single during the 2017 Grammys and killed it!
This past weekend I didn’t get a chance to listen to as many new releases as last week, but what I jammed out to were pretty good. The music included in this week’s Music Monday range from country to EDM to pop. Check them out to see what you think!
As always, send me your recommendations and they might end up here next week!
Lauren Alaina – “Road Less Traveled” album
Known as the runner-up on the tenth season of “American Idol,” Alaina released her sophomore album “Road Less Traveled” on January 27. The country singer describes the LP as having themes of self acceptance and love. “We are all different and that’s what makes us all beautiful. The album will reflect that further,” she told the Albuquerque Journal. “It will have some fun songs and sad songs – a little bit of what my life has been like over the past few years.”
This year I want bring back my Music Monday segment on La Vida Liz to spotlight new music, what I’m listening to and hopefully get new recommendations.
This past weekend I was listening to John Mayer’s first wave of songs from his upcoming album “The Search for Everything.” He had already released “Love on the Weekend” and has now shared three new tracks. Mayer plans to release four new songs from his forthcoming album once a month until the project’s official release.
The Maine released the music video for their latest single “Am I Pretty” from their album “American Candy.” The Arizona-based quintet send a powerful message about self-love and embracing the qualities that make you unique and different.
The five minute video starts with a diverse group of people talking about incidents in their life when they were criticized, told they weren’t good enough and other obstacles that they have had to endure. We then see lead-singer John O’Callaghan, Kennedy Brock, Pat Kirch, Jared Monaco and Garrett Nickelsen, all dressed in blue suits, setting up to start the song.
Zayn Malik, now only going by his first name, released his debut album “Mind Of Mine” on Friday, March 25 to a slew of positive reviews. The ex-Directioner showed that he is most certainly out of a boy band and ready for an edgier sound, that yes, includes cussing.
Here’s my review of the deluxe-version I heard over the weekend on Spotify. *Note, not all songs will be commented on and will be written in the “Zayn-esque” AIM typography.
“Pillowtalk” was the perfect single to kick the singer’s solo career, so naturally after an intro, it’s the first we hear. By far my favorite was “BeFoUr,” I could listen to it on repeat. “She” has the qualities to be a sensation.
