The return of Lorde, The Maine’s second single from their upcoming album, and the first song from new supergroup Dreamcar are just a handful of tracks that form part of this week’s Music Monday.
Listen to tunes from Ed Sheeran’s new LP “÷,” rising singer and songwriter Léon, John Legend’s “La La Land” medley and so much more. Check it out below!
This weekend was even busier than last, with Oscars taking all of my attention. What a show, am I right?! Anyway, of the couple of new tunes that I had the chance to listen to were John Mayer’s second wave of tracks, Little Big Town’s new album and a new Zedd and Alessia Cara song.
Check out what was on my playlist this weekend below!
New week, new tunes. This Music Monday has a mix of pop, punk and compositions from Danny Elfman, as well as the return of artists like Lana Del Rey and Linkin Park.
Up first is Ryan Adams with his first LP of original material since his 2014 album “Ryan Adams.”
Ryan Adams – “Prisoner”
Praised by music critics, Ryan Adams’ 16th studio album is a delightful array of songs that lets you sit back and think about life – in a good way. Adams fans will rejoice in having 12 new tunes that they can listen to on repeat.
This past weekend I didn’t get a chance to listen to as many new releases as last week, but what I jammed out to were pretty good. The music included in this week’s Music Monday range from country to EDM to pop. Check them out to see what you think!
As always, send me your recommendations and they might end up here next week!
Lauren Alaina – “Road Less Traveled” album
Known as the runner-up on the tenth season of “American Idol,” Alaina released her sophomore album “Road Less Traveled” on January 27. The country singer describes the LP as having themes of self acceptance and love. “We are all different and that’s what makes us all beautiful. The album will reflect that further,” she told the Albuquerque Journal. “It will have some fun songs and sad songs – a little bit of what my life has been like over the past few years.”
This year I want bring back my Music Monday segment on La Vida Liz to spotlight new music, what I’m listening to and hopefully get new recommendations.
This past weekend I was listening to John Mayer’s first wave of songs from his upcoming album “The Search for Everything.” He had already released “Love on the Weekend” and has now shared three new tracks. Mayer plans to release four new songs from his forthcoming album once a month until the project’s official release.
Parachute released their fourth studio album on Friday, March 11 titled “Wide Awake.” The 12-song LP showcases the bands wide range of jazz, pop and rock tunes that define the Virgina based trio.
Composed of Will Anderson, Johnny Stubblefield and Kit French, the album kicks off with their single “Without You,” an upbeat, gospel-esque love song that stays true to the Parachute sound. Lead-singer, Anderson, showcases his vocal abilities in “What Side Of Love” and especially in “Everything” where he is accompanied by a piano.
Fans get to swoon over their favorite member wishing they were singing “Lonely With Me,” “Jennie” and “When You Move” to them.
Parachute gives us some edge with, (my personal favorite), “Love Me Anyway,” where’d they get that sass? There is a weird transition from “When You Move” and “Getaway,” being that you are in a slow song, pensive mood then bam the next song hits you hard.
“Crave” is a fun, hip shaking song that was also pre-released and “What Breaks My Heart” is the classics Parachute forbidden love track in the likes of “What I Know” and “Mess I’ve Made.”
The album concludes with “Waking Up,” the perfect record, soft, mellow with a cheerful sound, to bring us to the end of the album. Overall it might be my favorite Parachute album since 2009’s “Losing Sleep.”
Don’t miss Parachute, now on tour!
Sofia Reyes and Prince Royce released the official music video of the English version of their collaboration, “Nobody But Me”. The Spanish version titled “Solo Yo” was first released back in January and generated great buzz with now over 2.3 million plays on Spotify. The accompanying music video was launch shortly after and now has more than 1.5 million views on YouTube.

After having to cancel the rest of their European tour in lieu of the attacks on Paris, frontman Dave Grohl shared a touching letter dedicated to the victims of the November 13 terrorists attacks.
“The Saint Cecilia EP was put into motion back in October of this year as a celebration of life and music. The concept being that, as our world tour drew to a close this week, we wanted to share our love of both with you in return for everything you have given us” detailed Grohl on their site.
MUSIC MONDAY: One Direction vs. Justin Bieber [AUDIO]
One Direction and Justin Bieber both released new music today. 1D released “End of the Day” and JB shared “Love Yourself” and “The Feeling.”
The battle has begun between there two talents. But who will come out victorious on November 13 when both Made in the A.M. and Purpose come out? We’ll have to wait and see.
As for me, I have declared myself a Directioner. I was never a fan until Zayn left and until I heard “Drag Me Down,” then it was on constant repeat. I always had a thing for some of Biebs song, “Somebody To Love” was my jam back in the day.
