Throwing It Back: Celebuzz First Look: Disney’s New Show ‘Austin & Ally’!

Taking it back to another great event I went to exactly two years ago today! I had the opportunity to go on the set of the Disney Channel Show Austin & Ally before it even premiered and interview the cast. Read below for the full article and see it on Celebzz HERE.

Austin-&-Ally

If you’re an avid Disney Channel watcher, you know there’s major excitement over their newest show Austin & Ally — and Celebuzz got to go on set with the cast!

Austin & Ally is a new musical comedy about an overly confident singer/musician named Austin (played by newcomer Ross Lynch), and talented yet shy songwriter Ally (played by Laura Marano). The two team up as a full-on musical force to make their dreams come true…and the story begins!

The energetic Ross told Celebuzz:

“The music aspect is a lot different, it’s got really good fun music, and the connection between [our group of] friends is really strong.”

The show starts out with Austin and his best friend Dez (played by Calum Worthy) “borrowing” Ally’s song without her knowing. As the music video and song become a hit, Austin becomes an overnight sensation. Ally and her best friend Trish (played by Raini Rodriguez — whose real life brother is Rico Rodriguezwho portrays Manny on the hit show Modern Family), make a plan to let the world know that it was Ally’s song. The show progresses by showing us how the two come together to make a dynamic musical duo.

The talented 15 year old, Laura told us a bit about her character,

“Ally is a very insecure, wonderful, talented songwriter who is so insecure to the point where she can’t show the world her talents in life. Thankfully Austin comes in … he needs songs to perform and I have an outlet for everyone to see my songs.”

When asked about the hardest part about filming the comedic show Calum state:

“The biggest challenge was also the most fun part of the show. It’s trying to come up with funny moments all the time in the show, those crazy wild ideas to bring to the table. When they give you the scene, they love you to have some of your creative input back into the episode and they are open to ideas and new concepts. They are always trying to find the best way to make it and a way that is different.”

When it came to confidence Raini had an over abundance and said,

“To know that I am in an environment that I love and that people love me and support me so much here, that’s definitely a huge thing. And it’s just a lot of fun, what’s not to love.”

The chemistry with this foursome is undeniable! Make sure to watch the premiere of the show Sunday December 4th on the Disney Channel.

#TBT: Saying Goodbye to Wizards of Waverly Place

Wizards Of Waverly

One of my last assignments from the first time I interned with Celebuzz was covering the finale and what the end of Disney Channel’s hit show Wizards of Waverly Place.

I got to attend the press junket and chat with the stars such as Selena Gomez and David Henrie about what the end would bring and what the next steps for the actors would bring.

Here’s an insert from the interviews I had with Gomez, Henrie and Jake T. Austin themselves:

In the finale, the Russo siblings Justin, Alex and Max, face a sudden challenge where they must go through an ultimate test to see which one of them gets to keep their wizardly powers. The anticipation has been rising and fans keep trying to figure out who will be the winner. We sat down with Selena, David Henrie and Jake T. Austin to get some info on their best memories.

What are you going to miss most about each other?

Selena: Honestly, the fighting with him. (David) I am, because it was the best, whenever I read scripts or read anything and its bickering, I’ve never done it as well as when I did it with David, on the show and in real life. It was good and it was fun!

David: Yeah it was fun. I don’t know, she’s a lot fun I had a good time with her.

Jake: I’m going to miss working with the crew, working with the cast every day. I’m going to miss playing my character Max because it was so much fun with the unpredictable antics that the writers wrote. We’re going to miss it, but it’s not like we are going to cut contact from each other! We still know each other, we’re still involved. It’s just not going to the same work place and be in that environment ever again. The only way that we will be able to relive that is by watching the episodes. It’s kind of sad, but at the same time you have to be appreciative of what we had.

What’s the best thing that you got out of this experience?

S: I learned a lot. Whenever people ask me that, even if it’s not in an interviews, I always say my cast and my crew just taught me so much! I thank David and Jake, especially David, for challenging me as an actress because he opened me up and made me better.

Did you take any mementos from the show?

S: The producers from the shows gave us our wands, it was really cool. It’s this cool glass case with a little engraving with each of our wands in it.

J: Yeah they gave us our wands, menus, we took everything! Anything to remember I guess.
