Highlights From New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2017 [PHOTOS]

Fashion Week took over New York City from February 9 to 17. The top designers showcased their latest Fall and Winter collections – and Spring 2017 – which featured a lot of grey plaid, oversized sweaters and coats, suits and beautiful evening wear.

Below are highlights from a handful of collections, starting with my favorite: Oscar de la Renta and the house’s stunning pantsuits.

Taking it back for a special #ThrowbackThursday to my interview with Jordan Saenz during this year’s February New York Fashion Week. It was a pleasure chit chatting with the young entrepreneur about her new collection. Here is part of the feature that was posted on Variety Latino.

On a chilly Monday night in New York, Brooklyn based designer Jordan Saenz, known as her newly created label Jordan Alexandra, launched her debut collection “Suit Up With Bras.”

The 26-year-old Mexican-American designer took part in New York Fashion Week on February 16 by presenting her 8-piece collection that has been in the works for some time. Bringing her own aesthetic as well as years of experience working for designers such as Zac Posen, Betsey Johnson and Oscar de la Renta the androgynous inspired collection is setting her apart in the fashion world.

“It’s actually been in the works for three years now, under development. I think I have just always known since I was young that I wanted to be a business owner,” Jordan told us at her NYFW showroom. “I’m inspired by a lot of tailored clothing and menswear and I really wanted to combine two things that are very basic and make it into something unconventional but still maintain that wearability.”

NYFW: Liz Takes New York Fashion Week – Day 3

IMG_0269

Last and final day in my New York trip 😦 I woke up, re-packed, got dressed and did some work before I had head led out to meet up with a Chilean blogger Nicole Putz. It was cold but it was the last day and I had to make the most of it!

I went down to the hotel lobby and worked on some articles before I had to head out and take the subway to the Lincoln center. I had become a pro by now so the subway to and from Times Square to the Lincoln center was cake! I met up with Nicole at Starbucks to chat a bit about her work and how she came all the way from Chile to New York Fashion week. She was a doll! I also met her photographer who was working with her during her stay in New York, Andrea, super sweet and talented.

Then I headed off to the Lie SangBong show at 1 p.m., my last show of NYFW and one of my favs.

I had never heard of this designer, (#NewbieMe), but Mr. Lie was very talented and I loved each piece that took the runway. I really enjoyed his coats and the patented leather burgundy and navy heels with socks and decided that I have to try that look! The coats were a variety of black, red, burgundy and navy, my colors that I’ve loved for this winter time. I also loved some of the trouser pants that had lace detailing on them.

NYFW: Liz Takes New York Fashion Week – Day 2

IMG_0233

Second day at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion week and today is a cold day. I woke up and it was snowing! Not crazy snowing though, there was just a nice blanket of white on the ledge and down below from my hotel room.

Today’s adventure consisted of me taking the subway by myself. My friend Marissa had taken me on it yesterday and told me it was a quick stop to the Lincoln Center and it was! When I walked outside it wasn’t as bad as I had imagined and quickly started getting warmed up as I walked a couple blocks to the subway entrance. When I arrived it was a short 2 minute walk upstairs to arrive at the MBFW building and take my seat at the Michael Costello show.

The lights dimmed and the show began with a Nicki Minaj song and various black lace outfits emerged from backstage. A little to the front and side was Adrienne Bailon and apparently Christina Milian and Chris Brown were there but I didn’t catch a glimpse of them.

The Best of Badgley Mischka New York Fashion Week Show

NY Fashion Week SS 2015

Badgley Mischka

Today’s inside look at New York Fashion Week 2014 is Badgley Mischka!

The designers Mark Badgley & James Mischka took my breath away with these whimsical and lovely looks.

Tears  came to my eyes – ok not literally, but still – as my eyes gazed upon the beautiful designs that I saw on the runway.

Let’s take a closer look at my top 10 favorite looks. Starting with the featured image above of the crop top and maxi skirt. If I had this outfit right now, I’d literally sleep in it, never take it off and be the happiest girl in the world.

These 3 looks above are perfect for a special night where I want to look sophisticated yet uber fashionable. The white dress can be worn in the office or dinner date, the middle look is party central and the baby blue ensemble is Opera ready and a cocktail attire must.

Victoria Beckham NYFW Show 2014

Victoria Beckham New York Fashion Week 2014

On September 7th, Victoria Beckham showcased her new Spring / Summer 2015 designs at New York Fashion Week and my-oh-my did my eyes grow hearts like the emoji!

It was a spectacular show filled with the standard black and whites, structured lines, VB style dresses and a hint of color. The minimal look was not so minimal when looked at closely. Each piece came with a unique twist, from cut off sleeves, to a black line and hints of burgundy to full coats and suits.

The beige ensembles had an air of sophistication, while the black and whites make anyone have that signature Posh look.

The lines and stripes were definitely what caught my eyes on the runway and that maxi long sleeved is definitely a must have – but caution, this dress must be warn the right way. Keep it simple but significant!

I also have to praise Queen V with her burgundy suits that stole my heart. While they are very simple, the dark reddish tint is a fav of mine this season. I already have a blazer and shorts in that tone and would not refuse any of Becks collection either.

Of course I have to point out that her main squeeze, David Beckham was there that night supporting his one true love. David sat in between his son Brooklyn and Vogue Editor- in-Chief, Anna Wintour.

The perfect couple stole my heart when this image of DB holding the ex-Spice Girl from behind and kissing her head appeared on my Insta timeline.
