Best of 2017 Fashion Week – Dior, Valentino & More

Fashion Week

Fashion week came and went, and I wish I could’ve had more time to really take it in and watch every runway show. There’s something wild and risqué about Fashion Weeks overseas, the designers’ collections have more of everything: More leather, more lace, more ruffles and more over-the-top looks.

Dior stunned once again during Paris Fashion Week, with Maria Grazia Chiuri showcasing her navy blue collection. From elegant to everyday wear, she’s definitely cementing herself as the new head honcho at the French Maison.

Valentino Pre-Fall 2017: Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Second Solo Offering Is Angelic (Photos)

When I went to Rome in September of last year, I walked into the two-story Valentino store and felt like I was in heaven. I slowly walked around, my fingers brushing the delicate fabric, careful to not ruin anything, excited to actually be in the presence of  such beautiful art created by Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri.

Now, Piccioli has launched his second solo offering for Valentino since Chiuri left the house for Dior; and his Pre-Fall 2017 collection is just as dreamy, angelic and feminine as ever.

Catering to many, the ex- Valentino designer impressed many around the world with her bold new creations. According to the magazine, for future collections, Chiuri plans to draw inspiration from previous Dior designers. “Monsieur Dior only lives 10 years. Welcome to New York Fashion Week!
Last year I was prepping my schedule to walk the streets of NYC to attend my first Fashion Week, bucket list item checked off. Now I’m in LA covering from afar but still just as excited.
Hedi Slimane presented the Saint Laurent women’s Pre-Fall and men’s Fall 2016 collection on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at the Palladium theater in Los Angeles. Why wasn’t I invited?

Giambattista Valli Fall 2015 Couture Runway [PHOTOS]

Giambattista Valli left all fashion aficionados with jaws dropped after the house revealed its Fall 2015 Couture Collection on June 6 during Fall 2015 Couture week in Paris. Attention to detail and embellishment were key phrases for each look that ranged from being covered in tulle, feathers, ruffles, floral prints and much more. Outdoing himself once again. Valli wowed audiences with statement earrings and sunglasses that didn’t overwhelm but added to complete the look.

Personally speaking, the top middle picture with the high-low, white flora dress is my favorite. Click below to see the rest of my top picks.

Dolce&Gabbana Fall/Winter 2015

It’s taken me more than a week to sit down and really post my favorite looks from the Dolce&Gabbana Fall/Winter 2015 collection from Milan Fashion Week. My breath was taken away when I saw the collection and look by look I fell in love wanting to wear each dress right this instant.

So I start off with the first three looks at the top. Ok, my favorite color is red then black and white so I just couldn’t contain my excitement when I saw the color palette. The lace, the floral prints, the fabric and the designs are exceptional. The white dress with the bright red flowers, the black see-through tulle with the short sleeves and black undergarments is beautiful and the bright red dress is cocktail party perfection.

More looks onward!

Trendsetting Tuesday: Capes

20131112-135759.jpgCapes on Capes! Trendsetting Tuesday comes back in the swing of things as the weather starts to get lower and chilly. Let’s make a fashion statement with superhero style and cozy up in a fashionable cape!

Seen all over Fall 2013 Fashion Week, this trend is a great way to standout and look as if you just stepped off the runway. High fashion designers love to mix and match and go all out with the overcoat.

20131112-135807.jpgCelebs left and right have been spotted wearing their favorite version of the over-sized coat such as fashionista Lily Collins below. Capes make the wearer look elegant and make you feel like you have a small part in the fashion world. Dress them up with heels and a mini dress, dress it down with jeans and riding boots.

I recently purchased a new black and white cape which goes perfect with almost any outfit. Already a previous fan of capes, I hold a red one in my closet as well. While mine are on the shorter side, I know I need to search for the perfect waist length cape.

Below are exaggerated yet oh-so chic versions of the best trend around right now. Fighting the fashion world with this pullover is sure to make enemies bitter and jealous. The Oscar de la Renta one underneath is to die for! Sleek and long enough to cuddle in, perfection a la Renta!
