Valentino Pre-Fall 2017: Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Second Solo Offering Is Angelic (Photos)

When I went to Rome in September of last year, I walked into the two-story Valentino store and felt like I was in heaven. I slowly walked around, my fingers brushing the delicate fabric, careful to not ruin anything, excited to actually be in the presence of  such beautiful art created by Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri.

Now, Piccioli has launched his second solo offering for Valentino since Chiuri left the house for Dior; and his Pre-Fall 2017 collection is just as dreamy, angelic and feminine as ever.

The designer previewed his collection at the New York Beekman Hotel and played Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good.” The lyrics, “It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life and I’m feeling good,” really resonated with Pierpaolo as he’s heading into a new Valentino phase as the house’s sole creative director after working side by side with Chiuri for 17 years.

“It’s important to give daywear a touch of dreams,” Piccioli told Vogue. “I just did what I felt.”

Knits, fur, silks, delicate dresses, 3D flowers, leather and lace all intertwined to give a romantic collection worthy of the Valentino name. Check out a couple of my favorite looks that I chose above and below.
