The Originals Mid-Season Finale Recap: “Reigning Pain in New Orleans”

Originals

While it might have been a couple weeks since The Originals mid season finale, I just barely had time to catch up and watch it on CWTV.com. Up until now this new hit show has been my #1 go to and it keeps me wanting more.

If you’ve been like me and haven’t been caught up on all the great stories, dramas and fights going on recap the previous episode, “The River in Reverse”  HERE!

To make it short and sweet Klaus had left his brother and sister and had taken over Marcel’s territory claiming it as his own. He’s feeling betrayed by Elijah and Rebekah and took Hayley with him so as to not have anyone take his unborn child.

Now that Klaus reigns over New Orleans he is ready to let the blood flow. As he hosts a dinner and gives a speech about the vamp community and that his next step as leader is to kill all the werewolves. We flashback to Marcel and Rebekah discussing loyalty and staying alive. Then Elijah and Rebekah decide to rescue Hayley but she says no, she is fine but her family and people are in danger. Klaus on the other hand is still using Cami as his right hand scribe and now Marcel knows all about it. Little does he know that Cami has been leaving notes all around her apartment to remember why she keeps forgetting things after Klaus compels her.

Klaus as the new commander has a meeting with the “humans” about the rules and regulations in the town, not one to follow the rules he tells them his personal terms and to better watch it with the rudeness. While the vamps are scavenging for werewolves Elijah and Rebekah decide to let them know that they should leave. As the vamps leave the campgrounds Elijah senses a wolf, Eve is her name and she tells them that the wolves know how to protect themselves and they can’t be found unless they want to be found. The only problem is that the newbie wolves don’t know the best hiding spots, that’s where Elijah and Rebekah’s help come in hand. As they go to another campground they let the vampires know that they are serious, do NOT harm the werewolves…or else.

The Originals Recap: “The River in Reverse”

Originals

Thank goodness for a new The Originals, it has been two weeks since the last episode and my oh my what an episode. To recap it and freshen up on what has happened, such as Elijah turning against Klaus, Klaus biting Elijah, Tyler giving secret info out and Rebekah seeking revenge, read it HERE!

Elijah is hallucinating from Klaus’ bite and Hayley is right by his side. Rebekah goes into confession to repent her sins but knows that even a human God cannot save him. As Tyler Lockwood goes to Marcel to tell him all about Klaus’ baby, he gets all of the vamps to rally up against him until Rebekah comes and tells them she is on their side but the baby must not be harm in anyway.

Klaus recruits Cami to write his biography and when she psychoanalyzes him and Klaus gets all worked up when Cami tells him he is scared and has trust issues. He then goes to Father Kieran to tell him to tell Cami to leave town. Elijah on the otherhand is not doing so well with the bite that Klaus has given him. With Hayley by his side he starts hallucinating, she enters his mind and sees thoughts of another beautiful woman in a bathtub. The woman is none other than Celeste, a witch who was friendly with Elijah back many centuries ago.

Rebekah and Marcel have Josh on their team now and are using him to draw Klaus in and thus begin their plan. Klaus arrives at Marcel’s headquarters and sees Rebekah, As Marcel calls his vamps in it’s go time! Klaus makes a grand speech about eternity and not able to be killed. He then offers a coin to who ever wants to be on his side, no one takes it. Battle begins!

The Originals Recap: “Bloodletting”

Originals

Welcome back to my favorite recap of the week!  Previously on The Originals, Davina performed a spell to untie Sophie and Hayley, Rebekah was going to leave New Orleans then did it with Marcel and then Marcel discovered where The Originals are staying and took Hayley! Full recap can be read HERE.

Well well well look who’s back in town and taken Hayley for hostage! As Klaus and Elijah interrupt Marcel’s festivities to track down baby mama, we discover that she is not in his possession. It seems like none other than Tyler has gotten hold of dear Hayles and taken her to a distant place where Tyler tells her that her birthmark is a sign of werewolf royalty.

Testing his way through hybrid experimentation, Tyler uses Hayley’s blood to turn a lone wolf into a hybrid. To our surprise and his, it works! Tyler has his hands full as he wants to destroy the baby so that Klaus can’t produce more hybrids and take over. As Tyler’s new hybrid wakes up, Hayley instructs him to keep Tyler away from her and he does, making us think that perhaps the new hybrid will listen to it’s maker, the baby.

Hayley escapes Tyler and runs into Elijah! While Tyler encounters Klaus. The two angry hybrids have at it while Hayley tells Elijah that she can take care of herself. As Tyler stands up to Klaus by calling him a failure, hand in heart, Klaus realizes that all Tyler wants is death and to rest in peace. He lets Tyler go and tells him he doesn’t deserve peace and to go on living as nothing.

Rebekah on the other hand goes to Marcel thinking he took Hayley, he explains that he didn’t and the two have a talk about Rebekah leaving Klaus and standing up to him. Talks of killing Klaus come up but Rebekah stands away from it. Klaus can’t be killed and trying so will result in death.

Elijah now on team Hayley stands up to Klaus about how Klaus is wanting to have this baby to rule and make an army. Angry at the thought that no one in his family trusts him he does what Klaus usually does, throws a fit.

Then it’s like, “oh no he didn’t”! Frustrated and hurt Klaus attacks Elijah and bites him. Knowing that a bite from a hybrid will be deadly, though being that Elijah is an original he won’t die, but still how rude!

Davina had her share of happiness when Marcel takes Josh, the vampire compelled to listen to Klaus, to have his memory wiped. After interacting with Davina, Josh and her have a nice talk and they grow to be friends. But Marcel has instructed Davina to make him forget about her. Josh tells her that he will keep her a secret and that it was nice to talk to someone normal, as in a normal superhuman witch with a gay, club going vampire. The sure make good besties though!

And I never thought I’d dislike Tyler as much as I do now! The episode ends with Tyler in front of Marcel telling him all about Hayley, the baby and how Klaus can start his own army of hybrids and the potential end of the vampire species. Goodness gracious where does it all end! Leave the baby alone!

Every week they just leave us hanging and wanting more! Can’t wait for what’s to come for Tyler and will Caroline be coming back to kick T’s booty?

The Originals Recap: “Sinners and Saints”

Originals

Last week’s The Originals episode was to die for! Literally, I thought someone was going to die because witches were going after Hayley, Davina’s lover boy had a great fall, Cami was going to explode, figuratively but still, from all her new info she had learned. Need a refresher? Click last week’s recap HERE!

The honorable Elijah is awake and in the presence of Davina. Which can be a good thing for The Originals.

Klaus, Rebekah and witch Sophie gather at their estate to discuss the madness and almost killing of Hayley. Sworn to protect Hayley and the baby, Rebekah stands by her word to Elijah even when Sophie tries to go out into the bayou to retrieve the remains of slayed witches. I’m getting ahead of myself though.Sinners and Saints

We find out some great news about this little thing called The Harvest which included a ritual where strength, good health and power were said to be given to the chosen witches. In reality it was just a quest to drain them of their power to have the other witches take as their own.

Cover your eyes kiddos as it seems that Marcel and Sophie had a sexual history long ago that helped Marcel learn about The Harvest. This is just a flashback so no need to get all worked up. It does give us an insight on how Marcel got Davina.

Meanwhile Elijah and Davina keep chit chatting away and we learn more about The Harvest and how Davina has to stay alive in order to prevent the ritual from completing. If Davina stays alive past the determined date, the witches will be punished and lose all their power. Davina, yearning to be a normal girl again, does not realize what this could mean.theorig

Davina tells Elijah the tale about the so-called Harvest about how no one fought or questioned the activities except Sophie. Treated like princess, Davina was enlightened and proud to be a chosen one until she realized that they were going to be killed. As the slaying began Davina was saved by the vampires, Marcel to be exact. Marcel only knew about the ritual because of Father Kieran who was informed by Sophie, more on that below!

Heartbroken that not even her own mother was fighting for her, Davina found comfort in Marcel. That night all the girls died and everyone’s power was transferred into Davina, the only survivor. Scared to die, she willingly went with Marcel, who saved her life.

New discovery! Sophie long ago went to Father Kieran to inform him about The Harvest that the witches were planning. Angered that Sophie went to him to rat them out, one of the witches put a spell on the priest’s nephew who was an alter server. The young boy, driven mad by unknown circumstances goes crazy and performs a massacre at the temple. Sound familiar? Yes, this is the exact boy who happened to have a twin sister, who happens to be back in New Orleans to find out more about her brother’s death – Cami! Whoa baby!

originals-ep-5

Well knowing that this magic is too much for Davina, Elijah offers her a deal. Safety, careful studying and learning of how to control her craft from Elijah’s mother’s spell books in exchange for him to be let go and his protection over her. Gosh darn it, doesn’t he just make you swoon?

Meanwhile, Klaus and Rebekah were fooled by Marcel when they were trying to one-up him by distracting him from going to the bayou. Marcel slips out and goes back to get Davina and move her to a new location because he’s afraid Klaus will take her. Upon departure, Davina goes into a somewhat trance and tells Marcel there is something dangerous out there and to take her back into the room she was in before fainting. Marcel does not know that Davina has let Elijah free at this time. As she is returned back to the attic we see that an established truce has been made between Davina and Elijah. He reminds her that he honors his family above all and their protection, as she reminds him that revenge against the witches is all she wants.

Hey side-note: did you know dear Cami is Father Kieran’s niece? Neither did Marcel, and now he’s forbidden to go after her. Funny how things are all connected to each other right?

Sinners and Saints

Towards the night’s end, Klaus and Marcel have a little go at it as talks of taking Davina come up, only to be interrupted by Elijah. Rebekah and Hayley have a touching moment as Bekah reminds Hayles that she is part of her family now. And bust out your handkerchief because tears of joy came out as Elijah walks in the door! Rebekah’s love for her brother is truly expressed at this moment and the sparks between Elijah and Hayley are just making me giggle. Those two are gonna be in love I just know it!

All’s come back to a great ending until, flashback into Sophie’s past where she discusses The Harvest and how to save the killed chosen witches. We find out that Davina does have to die in order for them to come back and be reborn…well isn’t this going to spice things up?

Can’t wait for what’s to come next week!
