Trendsetting Tuesday: Resort 2016 Burberry Prorsum

Gotta give it to Burberry Prorsum’s Resort 2016 Collection and its “look book” unveiling. Thanks to Creative Director Christopher Bailey, this new 30 design collection is making me become a Burberry fan once again. Usually too minimalist for me, this Resort look is intricate with lace, clean lines, stand-out textures and patterns that I give two thumbs up.

Trendsetting Tuesday: Elie Saab Paris SS15 Show

This week for Trendsetting Tuesday we take it back for Paris Fashion Week to the Elie Saab runway show.

*Note: We’ll be taking it back for a while since I am obsessed with a variety of shows that happened over the last couple of months.

This year my eyes were opened to the out of this world, intergalactic designs of ES. The colors, the shapes, the way the long crystalized dresses and colors flowed down the runway was magnificent.

Thus to show you what this designer is all about I have chosen a few of my favs! Let me know what you think!

These 3 have a similar look, they are a flowy and show some leg. The two on the side  have similar patterns with deep V’s but one shows leg and comes with sleeves while the middle one is a gorgeous light powder blue.

Trendsetting Tuesday: Emma Stone Graces Vogue Cover

Thank goodness that Vogue recovered from it’s distasteful previous cover and chose a well-deserved role model to grace May’s cover.

Let’s give a round of applause to Emma Stone!

The funny, charming and goofy actress is “On A Roll” and ready to tackle Build A Bear.

In the interview with the 25 year-old, writer Jason Gay greets the star of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” at a mall, literally builds a bear and talks all things Emma Stone.

“It’s fun to get to borrow a dress for a night and dress up for something,” Stone says regarding fashion and the chance to wear some of the most luxurious brands.

Trendsetting Tuesday: Splurge vs. Steal

splurge

20140203-191325.jpg

Trendsetting Tuesday brings about something that captured my attention a while back. When is it right to splurge on an item and when is it better to just get it for a cheaper price? A couple months ago I did a Splurge vs. Steal feature with a pair of Jimmy Choo bejeweled heels to see when it’s a good time to splurge or go for the steal.

Now I stumbled across Valentino studded flats and replica’s on another website. So regularly the Valentino Rockstud Patent Ballerina Flats T.05 are approximately $845. They are gorgeous, patent leather, with gold studs, pointed-toe and available in a variety of colors. They are perfection! But with a price tags like that, it’ll break my bank.

The alternative, Dollhouse Stunner studded flats for around $25-28! The difference, aside from the designer name, they are suede, not as pointy and they have a gold lining on the back of the heel. Of course there might be other differences but hey, they can’t always be exact.

So, what would you do? Splurge or Steal, or none of the above?

Trendsetting Tuesday: Shop Love D Shoes

20140107-174750.jpg

This Trendsetting Tuesday is about a new website that has recently launched and is open for business! Shop Love D Shoes is a women’s shoe store located all over Southern California and has now joined the world wide web.

Love D Shoes was established in 1992 and currently has 14 store locations. Specializing in women’s footwear, this store is where I grab some of my favorite shoes of the season. With reasonable prices and great promotions such as 30% off or buy 1 get 1 50% off, there’s no way I won’t take a peek inside the store.

What’s great is that now they are available online to show me what they have in stores. While the site is fairly new and still being worked on, I already have a couple that I love! To make things even better they are having a New Year’s promotion!

For a limited time you can get free shipping AND 30% off your entire purchase when you use promo code “NewYear30“!

So let’s take a look at my top shoes!

The first is Bamboo- Sharpay-05 in black. Currently I’m obsessed with booties and these are the perfect ones to complete any outfit. With gold buckles and 3 inches of chunky heel it’s my fav.

Trendsetting Tuesday: Fever Dream

20131217-170923.jpg

November 2013

Things are starting to warm up and it’s not just the sunny weather we’ve been having mid December in Southern California, you might even say I have a fever…Fever Dream to be exact!

This SPECIAL EDITION: TRENDSETTING TUESDAY is all about my recent interview with Lauren Fortner, creator of the rockin’ badass line Fever Dream.

So what exactly is Fever Dream?

“Fever Dream is a fun, edgy line created for those who want to stand out from the crowd as a badass without breaking the bank.” – L

Sound great to us! This punk rock look is edgy and dark and a little provocative. Do you have to be punk to wear this collection?

“Not at all! There are plenty of options on the site that are more “girly” plus, skulls and spikes are super trendy right now for everyone. I have rock n roll roots, so that’s the stuff I’m most passionate about on the site, but there is something for everyone on there. -L”

Trendsetting Tuesday: Splurge or Steal – Jimmy Choo

20131210-122258.jpg

What if you could splurge on everything you wanted and feel no regrets? We know there’s more to life than material possessions and believe me we all aren’t movie stars with a wad load of cash. But if you do happen to stumble across a certain something that you can’t stop thinking about, there are always alternatives.

Let’s look at your options!

Jimmy Choo came out with an exceptionally glamorous Tia heel, bedazzled and bejeweled, this heel is on point! Black, pointed toe and a gold heel this would be a must-have but with a selling price of over $4,000, we need to reevaluate our wants. That’s when I stumbled across the site Make Me Chic and found the Liliana Rubik-3 (featured on the right) for a whopping $49.

While it might not be your dream Jimmy Choo shoe, it’s better than nothing and still quite cute and affordable to splurge on for any upcoming festive event. We’re not made of money but if this Steal shoe from MakeMeChic.com has you falling in love like it has me, you can find it HERE.

Trendsetting Tuesday: Wide Brim Hat

20131203-110426.jpgBest way to cover up a messy mane, add some flare to your wardrobe or just stand out- wide brim hats!

Trending all over the fashion nation, hats have never been more in style. Back in the 70’s wide-brimmed hats were all the rage, now decades later they’ve emerged to perfect any outfit. The great thing about these hats is the way they instantly pump up any outfit from day to night.

There are so many ways to pair a wide-brimmed hat, just admire the images below.  Pair it with black trousers, a chiffon button-up blouse, outlandish statement jacket for a high fashion look. Tone it down with skinny jeans, a clean and crisp white shirt, you can add some edge with a mini skirt and leather jacket, or be date ready with a LBD and heels. 20131203-110435.jpg

They come in many colors and sizes, you can be as subtle as you want or as dramatic. Let the world know you’re ready to make a statement or just hide a bad hair day. You can snatch one for as little as $16 from Forever21 to as high as $400 from Bloomingdales. Find your right color and size and say hello to all your new admirers.

Don’t be shy, go wide or go home!

Trendsetting Tuesday: The New Face of Versace

20131125-131548.jpg

Versace has a new face and it’s none other than Mama Monster. The ARTPOP singer is seen in a lilac gown, fair skin and long blond, Donatella like hair in the new ad.

The Italian brand tweeted, “#Versace proudly confirms @LadyGaga as the face of SS14 campaign shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott #VersaceLovesGaga” on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Not a huge surprise for the duo teaming up as Lady Gaga paid homage to Donatella Versace in her new album with a song titled “Donatella”. Gaga expressed her excitement via twitter stating, “I’m so happy to be working w/ @Versace for the new Campaign! What do you wanna wear this Spring? #Donatella #famiglia.”

Here’s to looking at you GAGA!
