This past weekend I didn’t get a chance to listen to as many new releases as last week, but what I jammed out to were pretty good. The music included in this week’s Music Monday range from country to EDM to pop. Check them out to see what you think!
As always, send me your recommendations and they might end up here next week!
Lauren Alaina – “Road Less Traveled” album
Known as the runner-up on the tenth season of “American Idol,” Alaina released her sophomore album “Road Less Traveled” on January 27. The country singer describes the LP as having themes of self acceptance and love. “We are all different and that’s what makes us all beautiful. The album will reflect that further,” she told the Albuquerque Journal. “It will have some fun songs and sad songs – a little bit of what my life has been like over the past few years.”
Paris Couture Week took place January 22 to 26 and featured a slew of breathtaking looks and collections from the fashion industry’s top designers.
Exquisite pieces, glamorous ensembles, over-the-top and irresistible gowns and outfits overtook the runways. Among those that stood out for me were – of course – Dior and Valentino. I will continue to follow Maria Gracia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli’s designs, even if they are no longer working together.
This year I want bring back my Music Monday segment on La Vida Liz to spotlight new music, what I’m listening to and hopefully get new recommendations.
This past weekend I was listening to John Mayer’s first wave of songs from his upcoming album “The Search for Everything.” He had already released “Love on the Weekend” and has now shared three new tracks. Mayer plans to release four new songs from his forthcoming album once a month until the project’s official release.
When I went to Rome in September of last year, I walked into the two-story Valentino store and felt like I was in heaven. I slowly walked around, my fingers brushing the delicate fabric, careful to not ruin anything, excited to actually be in the presence of such beautiful art created by Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri.
Now, Piccioli has launched his second solo offering for Valentino since Chiuri left the house for Dior; and his Pre-Fall 2017 collection is just as dreamy, angelic and feminine as ever.
Last year, Maria Grazia Chiuri made her Dior debut during September Fashion Week, premiering her bold new spring and summer collection. Now, the French maison’s latest artistic director has debuted her 2017 pre-fall collection, which is just as visually stunning and filled with female empowerment as her previous offering.
Awards season kicked off on Sunday, January 8 with the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards. This year I was stunned at how many amazing red carpet looks I fell in love with. Last night’s looks ranged from sexy and princess-like, to modern tuxedo suits and elegant fitted silhouettes.
Here are my favorite looks of the night and the designers they wore.
Mandy Moore in Naeem Khan
Ruth Negga in Louis Vuitton
Kristen Bell in Jenny Packham
Trends of the night included plunging necklines and women who weren’t afraid to wear suits. I absolutely adored Mandy Moore‘s Naeem Khan cape dress, she looked angelic. Ruth Negga has become one of my favorites and that shimmering Louis Vuitton dress was like liquid gold! I personally believe that Kristen Bell and her Jenny Packham dress deserved way more attention!
Zayn Malik is not only making a name for himself as a solo artist, but also taking the fashion industry by storm. The “Pillowtalk” crooner has unveiled the first look at his upcoming shoe collection with Giuseppe Zanotti.
The duo shared four looks: “Zigi,” “Taz,” “Javadd” and “Yasr.”
“I really believe style comes from taking chances, being bold and not being afraid to express yourself,” Malik said in a statement, via Fashionista. “I feel Giuseppe does that with his collections—and I try to do that with my music. So when the idea came up to collaborate, I thought, ‘Yes, this would work.’”
For the past couple of months I’ve been trying to find the perfect travel handbag. The requirements that I have include it being a satchel or cross body, have a zipper and can fit a water bottle (I’ll need to stay hydrated while sight seeing).
The biggest problem is to find something that is affordable and durable, but also chic and goes with everything. I checked out some sites, including Coach, Marc Jacobs and Rebecca Minkoff, to find designer bags with potential – and under $500.
Coach – These four bags range from $247 to $325, with the Prairie Satchel coming in a variety of colors.

On November 19, 2015 Variety and WWD teamed up to bring the first ever StyleMakers event. I had the opportunity to interview all the stars and talented artists that formed part of this inaugural celebration, which was definitely one for the books.
Last year the shindig celebrated the fusion of entertainment and fashion as took place at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, Calif. The event honored fashion designer Zac Posen, style influencer Freida Pinto, costume designer Lyn Paolo, stylist Elizabeth Stewart, hairstylist Jen Atkin, makeup artist Lisa Eldridge and photographer Matthew Rolston.

Back in 2015 I had the opportunity to interview Christina Milian for her new show on E! Below is the article about our chat!
Christina Milian is ready to take on the music world once again and this time she is letting us join her for the ride.
In her new reality series “Christina Milian Turned Up” on E! we will get an inside look at her personal life, professional life and see just how this talented star works hard for what she wants.
Born in New Jersey to Cuban parents, she had and has that fiery Latina spark in her eyes that makes her unique. From an early age Christina, or “Tina” as her family calls her, fought and worked hard to make her dreams come true. The Grammy nominated singer struck gold with hits like “AM to PM,” “Whatever U Want,” and “Dip It Low” and made us fall in love with films like “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” and “Bring It On: Fight to the Finish.”
Of course there always comes a time when a star has to turn her lights down, let life happen and put her dreams on the back burner. The birth of her first child, daughter Violet, in 2010 made Christina take a break and focus on her baby girl.
But now with a fire that runs deep, Christina is getting back in the studio, doing things her way and letting us be part of her family.
